Hooligans thrash elderly man with baseball bat in Gurugram

Gurugram: Brazen lawlessness in Gurugram was again displayed after a senior citizen was beaten with baseball bat by unidentified youths. The incident was reported from Shivaji Nagar area.
The victim has been identified as Lakshmi Narayan Chawla. Police said the youth had reportedly asked money from Chawla, who is in his 60s, whom he refused. Enraged over refusal, the youth thrashed Chawla and hit him with the base ball bat in his head.
The victim is presently in the stable state and is recuperating in a private hospital.
Meanwhile, the formal complaint has been registered at the Shivaji Nagar police station and police have begun investigation.
A police official, however, disclosed that they haven't had a word with the victim as he is not found to be fit for recording his statement.
Open display of hooliganism was also reported last month, when a dozen youth ransacked the residence of a contractor.
The brazen incident had occurred in Gurugram Model town area, after a tiff between the contractor and youngsters over parking.
In October this year, Sunil Dabas, who has been conferred with highest sporting honours like Dronacharya and Padamshree awards, narrowly escaped of being run over by a SUV.
Angry over no action being taken by the police into the matter the decorated sportswoman also threatened to return her awards.
These people too were brazen enough of committing the crime in her house. She had raised objections on the illegal construction occurring at the civil lines area.
