High-ranking cops undertake patrolling across Capital

New Delhi: 'General gasht', or patrolling, took place for around three hours on Saturday night in the national Capital, as part of which high-ranking officials of Delhi Police, including the Commissioner, were on night patrol.
In South Delhi area, negligence was observed on the part of policemen during patrolling, after which 12 police personnel were sent to District Lines.
Meanwhile, city police was also able to make more than 20 arrests during the patrolling.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya stated that on Saturday during General gasht some deficiencies were found in motorcycle patrolling on some corridors and roads.
"The responsible police personnel, who were tasked for patrolling on those corridors, have been asked to explain the lapses and have sent to district lines," said the DCP.
He further said the 12 police personnel belonged to the police stations of Saket, Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas, Greater Kailash and Ambedkar Nagar.
During gasht, police also arrested several persons in south Delhi area.
During a special picket checking at Mother Diary Tigri picket at 10 pm, a police team apprehended a motorcyclist, identified as Sanjay (22).
He was found in possession of one country-made Katta with one live cartridge. On checking details of the bike it was found stolen from an area of Sangam Vihar.
Another arrest was made during general gasht in the course of checking at BRT Road, around 1.45 am, where a man, identified as Haniwell, was apprehended with a knife.
Another accused Sonu was nabbed with a country-made pistol, stolen motorcycle and live cartridges from Saket.
