High-profile courses in major colleges break cut-off barriers

NEW DELHI: Several Delhi University colleges on Monday night released the first cut-off for admission to various undergraduate courses for the academic session 2018-19.

Though the cut-offs were scheduled to be announced on June 19, it was released a day early, amid speculations of cut-offs breaching new percentage barriers.

For BA Economics (Hons), the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce recorded the highest cut-off percentage, with 98.50 per cent marks. Other North Campus colleges with high cut-offs for the course included Hindu College and Hansraj College, both demanding 98 per cent apiece.

Meanwhile, Kirori Mal College notched up 97.75 per cent, followed closely by Gargi College with at 97 per cent. BA English (Hons), one of the most sought courses in Delhi University's itinerary, saw Hindu College topping the cut-off race with 98 per cent. This followed by Hansraj College, demanding at 97.25 per cent. Meanwhile, Kirori Mal College had its cut-off at 97 per cent and Indraprastha College for Women at 96.75 per cent. At Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, the cut-off is 96 per cent.

Among hardcore science courses, the most popular is BSc Physics (Hons). This course saw rea sonably high cut-offs, with Hindu College topping the list at 98 per cent. Hansraj College came second at 97.33 per cent, with the South Campus' Venkateshwara College coming third with 97 per cent. Then came Miranda College, with at 96.67 per cent for the science course.

Meanwhile, the coveted BCom (Hons) course saw the highest cut-off at Shri Ram College of Commerce, with the figure recorded at at 97.75 per cent.

This was followed by both Hindu, Hansraj and Kirori Mal College, which came out with the same 97.50 per cent.
