Heroin worth Rs 120 crore hidden in car cavity seized

New Delhi: Ahead of New Year, 30 kgs of good quality heroin worth Rs 120 crore in international market was recovered from the possession of three accused arrested by the Delhi Police Special cell. The heroin was concealed in their Ertiga Car cavity.

A team of Special Cell busted an international narcotics cartel and three key members of cartel Abdul Rashid (26 years), Arbaz Mohammad (21 years) and Mohd Nazim (22 years), all three residents of district Bhilwara, Rajasthan were arrested on the intervening night of December 16 and 17 near Ambedkar Park, Sector 12, RK Puram, Delhi.

Accused persons had created secret cavities in the car and was being used by the arrested drug suppliers for carrying heroin from Manipur to Rajasthan. This is the biggest seizure of heroin by the Delhi Police in the current year in one single case.

On December 16, specific information was received by Special cell that Abdul Rashid had collected a big consignment of heroin from Manipur. He will be going to Rajasthan via Delhi in his Ertiga car to supply the contraband to his contacts in Rajasthan. At 11:40 pm, one Ertiga car coming from Hayat hotel side stopped near Ambedkar Park. The three men were arrested immediately. They were identified as Abdul Rashid, Arbaj Mohammad and Mohd Nazim. Abdul Rashid gave two bags one each to Arbaj and Nazim from the car.

"Trio were searched and 15 kgs heroin i.e. 5 kgs from each was recovered. During search of Ertiga car, 15kgs heroin was recovered from the specially designed cavities beneath both the footboards of the car. Thus total 30 kgs heroin was seized at spot. Ertiga car has been found registered in the name of Abdul Rashid. A case under the appropriate sections of law was registered at Police Station Special Cell," said Special Cell DCP, PS Kushwah.

Accused persons disclosed that the recovered consignment of heroin was procured by them from a person in Imphal, Manipur. They also revealed that said person is a notorious drug supplier of Imphal (Manipur). He used to get supply of heroin from Myanmar in containers loaded with betel nuts arriving in India. They have already supplied more than 200 kgs heroin to their contacts in these states in the last one year.
