Helping accident victims lands 19-yr-old in jail
A 19-year-old boy was held behind the bars for a night along with other criminals in Gautam Buddh Nagar police station who had rescued road accident victims on Monday night and managed to take them to a hospital.
The boy, identified as Sumit, hailing from Sarfabad Village near Sector 71 in Noida, was kept behind the bars for more than 15 hours in Sector 20 police station before the family members of victims gave a written plea on Tuesday morning that the boy had been wrongly held by the police and he was the one who rushed the victims to the hospital.
Though a 21-year-old man died in the road accident but Sumit somehow managed to save the life of one of the victims.
On Monday night, at around 9:30 pm, two persons who were identified as Shubham Sharma (21) and Mohit Sharma (20), both hailing from Sarfabad village, were travelling on a motorcycle when a Tata magic hit their vehicle from behind near Sector 71.
Both the victims were lying unattended on the road in a pool of blood before Sumit spotted them. Without making any delay, he rushed them to a nearby hospital in
Noida's Sector 51 from where doctors referred them to Kailash hospital in Sector 27, Noida.
However, Sumit's noble efforts just managed to save Mohit's life but Shubham succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Even after the guidelines issued by the Honorable Supreme Court that if you help a road accident victim, you should expect to be treated with respect by hospitals, the courts, and the police.
Sumit kept on pleading but his words kept falling on deaf ears.
Later in the morning, when road accident victim's family members came to know about the boy's arrest, they gave a written application and insisted them to release Sumit immediately.
The senior police officials kept on hiding to speak on the matter but later in the evening they informed media that Sumit was held by the police because of certain security reasons as some of the victim's family members alleged that the boy was responsible for the accident.
