Haryana's first cyber crime police station to be set up in Gurugram

Gurugram: In a city where online crimes are increasing at a very fast, a dedicated cyber crime police station will soon be set up. In the process, this will be also first of such police stations that will be set up in the state of Haryana. The cyber crime police station is expected to come up in the DLF-5 police station. With 200 crimes registered on monthly basis, there were over 3252 cases registered in 2017. These were way above the previous figures of 2402 cases that were filed in 2016.
Like the previous year, in 2017 also crimes committed in forms of online banking thefts, credit and debit card frauds remained the highest in the city.
While in 2016 there were 1343 of these forms of crimes that were registered at the cyber crime branch this year the data was recorded at 1848 cases. The spread of this crime was further highlighted after the cyber branch of Gurugram police busted two call centres in Delhi on two separate occasions. These call centres that used to employ boys and girls who used to call the customers and take their vital financial information that could then be exploited.
