Gzb police arrest 3 for hooch tragedy in Khoda

Ghaziabad: In a further crackdown on illegal liquor mafiyas, the Ghaziabad police have arrested three wanted accused out of the five people named in the FIR in connection with the hooch tragedy in which 4 persons allegedly died after consuming bootleg liquor in Ghaziabad's Khoda police station on Friday.
According to police, the arrested persons include a mother and her son among the three. The arrested are identified as Fulva wife of Matru, resident of Subhash Park, Khora, Neelam wife of Harishchandra, resident of Shankar Vihar, Khora and Sunil son of Harishchandra, resident of Khora. Police said that these people were on run after the hooch tragedy struck in Khoda area of Ghaziabad.
"Following a tip off about the four accused, a team was formed which conducted raids at various suspected locations. We have undertaken drives to ensure a crackdown on illegal sale of 'hooch' by liquor mafias and will pursue similar drives in future as well," said Akash Tomar, Superintendent of police (City), Ghaziabad.
Police have seized 12 cartons of Party Special brand wine, over 60 sealed and empty liquor bottles of smaller size, six liter adulterated liquor and one kg fertilizer from the residence of the accused. Earlier on Wednesday police arrested one of the accused Sudhir in connection with the Khoda incident. Apart from these the Ghaziabad police have also arrested three other liquor suppliers with 122 Liter Illegal liquor.
On Monday night, four persons were killed and at least one admitted to a hospital in a critical condition after consuming suspected spurious liquor at Khoda colony. Four policemen posted in the area were suspended in connection with the incident.
