Gurugram residents can now pay property taxes from home

Gurugram: Residents of Gurugram may now not have to visit the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram office to pay their property tax and water bills. The civic body in collaboration with the private bank have started the services of online door to door collection of the bills. A database of the residents will also be created for the purpose. The facility ensures that laks of residents can now pay the services from their home.
Speaking on the new facility MCG commissioner V Umashankar mentioned that easy in system of payments will ensure that now many residents will comply with the clearances.
"We had already started the procedures of online payments but now with this system, the citizen will be able to pay for services from their home. He has the option to pay us through cash, cheque or even digitally. For cash payments, the amount is restricted to Rs 2000," said the MCG commissioner.
Facing severe shortage of funds, earlier this year the civic body held a massive campaign to collect the property taxes and was successful to collect a large amount due to the strict stance taken by it. According to MCG officials, over 40 percent of payments were done digitally.
