Gurugram: Gurugram showed an improvement by registering sex ratio figures of 947 females to 1,000 males in the month of January.

The figure holds relevance as the district had seen a slight dip in the ratio in the previous months resulting it in just passing through the figures of 900 females to 1,000 males.

Not wasting any time, the Gurugram administration has now formed a three-member panel for the streamlining of the processes.

The team will make sure there is no further decrease in the female population as compared to the male population.

The team will comprise deputy civil surgeon Dr Naval Kishore, Dr Amandeep Chauhan and Shyam Sundar of Red Cross society.

The major activity that will be undertaken by these officials will be to ensure that there are no illegal clinics that operate in and around the city.

There is also a focus to ensure better coordination and delegation among the officials and workers.

Being a laggard in sex ratio, Gurugram has achieved a major objective after it registered a sex ratio of having 900 females compared to 1,000 males two years in a row that is from 2017 and 2018.

For a district that has registered dismal figures in the previous year's, this can also be considered as a major boost to the effort of public agencies to improve the situation.

Even though Gurugram is the richest district in Haryana, it is a laggard in not having enough population of women as compared to men.

Moreover, in 2014, there were 843 females to 1,000 males. While in 2012 there were 841 females to 1,000 males.

From 2014, the district has shown considerable improvement with 875 females to 1,000 males in 2015, 883:1,000 in 2016 and now 903:1,000 in 2017.

Even in 2017, there were a lot of public authorities to improve. Till August, the data hovered between 880 to 892. However, in September, the figures crossed the 900 figure mark with no decrease in the subsequent months.

Even though it is a success for Gurugram district, it still lags in comparison to the state average of 913 females to 1,000 males.

Various initiatives were taken by the government to have a people balance of males and females in the state.
