Gurugram cops on vigil to stop illegal gambling

GURUGRAM: The Gurugram police will keep a strict vigil on gambling during Diwali in the city.
Last year, a similar campaign was held leading to many gamblers being arrested. A major raid was conducted at a five star hotel in the city in 2016 where lakhs of amount in cash was seized by the law enforcement officials and several gamblers detained.
"These activities are a regular affair in the posh areas of the city. Diwali is considered one of the most favourable occasions to carry out these activities at a large scale. We have kept a vigil on certain units based on the source based information and will take action if any wrongdoings take place, " said Inspector Ravinder Singh, spokesperson for Gurugram police.
An illegal casino that was operational in South City, a posh area of Gurugram was busted by a special team of district police on the night of October 11.
As many as 43 people, including four women, were arrested.
