Gurugram air quality recedes to 'poor' after 'moderate' week

Gurugram: After being registered in 'moderate' category last week, the air quality in Gurugram on Sunday was 'poor' as PM2.5 levels hovered in the range of 200-260 microgram per cubic metre.

Further, the level of PM10 was registered between 400-450 microgram per cubic metre, which is less than the earlier value. High concentration of other poisonous gases remains a concern.

The past few days have witnessed high concentration of poisonous gases, like nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide, which are mostly emitted by diesel-run vehicles.

To save costs, many passenger vehicles, especially three-wheelers, low quality diesel that causes harm to the people breathing the air.

Large scale construction activities and receding green cover has also been a major contributor of pollution in the Millennium City.
