Guest teachers protest near LG house demanding regularisation

NEW DELHI: Thousands of guest teachers working in Delhi's schools on Friday protested outside the house of Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, demanding that their appointment should be made permanent now.
The teachers also submitted a written application, signed by all of them, to the LG.
"The government is with us and now we want the approval of LG", said Prabhanjan Kumar Jha, the leader of the protesting teachers.
Jha said that the teachers deserve protection from the authority because in the current scheme they do not get any retirement benefit.
"We too have a life, and we want to have a dignified life," Jha said.
Increasing costs and the day-to-day struggles have been bothering the teachers. On Friday morning, many of them occupied the street near Raj Niwas and raised slogans demanding their regularisation.
After the protest, a group of teachers visited the LG and discussed their issues with him. They also handed over the signatures they collected from schools across the city.
After listening to their demands, Baijal assured them that he will look into the matter.
According to the teachers, Baijal also said that he will take suggestions from experts and take necessary steps.
"We want to get a regular post and we have fought enough for this," Jha said.
Earlier, the Delhi government resolved that regularisation of teachers in the city school is needed as it will help the teachers to work harder.
However, the LG has asked some time from the teachers and they replied that they will wait peacefully for a decision in their favour.
