Guard shot dead while resisting robbery bid

Noida: A security guard was shot dead by the robbers while they struck a garment factory in an alleged robbery attempt in sector 63 area of Noida on Sunday night.
According to police, the guard has been identified as 40-year-old Ashutosh, a native of Nepal and lived in a rented house in Wajidpur.
"Ashutosh was spotted by another guard who came to join the night duty on Sunday. He was lying in a pool of blood and the lock of the main door was broken. The guard immediately alerted police following which a team rushed to the spot. The victim was rushed to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead," said Rajiv Kumar Singh, circle officer, Noida.
Since it was Sunday, the factory was closed and the only guard Ashutosh was present on the duty. Police said that the unarmed guard died while resisting to the robbery attempt.
The robbers took away the safe cash box of the company and the guard's mobile phone, said police. The owner of the company said that there were Rs 12 lakh in the safe cash box which were taken away by the robbers.
"We have registered a case of robbery and murder against unknown persons at Phase III police station and investigations are underway. The body of the deceased has been sent for the postmortem while we are also scanning CCTV footage from adjacent buildings to identify the assailants,"
added Singh.
