Greater Noida police shoot dead dreaded criminal in gun battle

Greater Noida: The Gautam Buddh Nagar police on late Tuesday night shot dead a dreaded criminal in a gun battle in Bisrakh area of Greater Noida.
The criminal was fleeing with two of his accomplices after robbing a Delhi-based businessman with Honda city car and Rs 1.5 lakh cash.
A police constable has also received a bullet injury in the incident.
The killed miscreant has been identified as Bhavendra Jaat, a native of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. Police has recovered the car, cash and illegal weapon after the encounter.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10.45 pm when Vinod, a delhi-based businessman was returning to Delhi from Dasna in his car. Three bike borne assailants stopped his car near Sector 58, threatened him on gun point and robbed his car and the cash he was carrying.
The incident was reported to Sector 58 police station, who began the chase and alerted Bisrakh police station officials about the robbery. The robbers were intercepted by the joint operation of Sector 58 and Bisrakh police at an isolated area near Cherry County in Tech Zone-4 area of Greater Noida, said police.
"When the police signaled them to stop, the robbers opened fire at the police party. Police also returned fire at them in which one of the robber received injuries on his chest, stomach and leg. He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The other two miscreants fled away from the spot leaving behind the car and cash robbed in the incident," said Love Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddh Nagar. At least 20 rounds were fired from both the sides during the encounter.
"In the incident, police constable Subodh Kumar received bullet injuries," added Kumar.
