Govt to focus on senior citizens, education for underprivileged

NEW DELHI: After week-long visits at various offices of the social welfare department and meeting the officials, the department has decided to develop the schemes like old age pension, education of underprivileged students and also work on the staff shortage and infrastructural development of social welfare offices.
Minister of social welfare Rajendra Pal Gautam found the department would need to focus on the issues such as the development of old age people and education for physically impaired students. The minister previously decided to work on the making of a helpline for the senior citizens. The department also planned a senior citizen day to be celebrated in the Capital. With these issue-based problems, the minister found that a lot of development in terms of infrastructure will also be needed in the department.
Earlier, Gautam visited the schools for the underprivileged physically impaired students in Delhi and found very poor infrastructure.
