Govt seeks suspension of medical superintendent

NEW DELHI: Delhi government has urged the Lt Governor Anil Baijal to suspend the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital as the police have booked him after complaints of alleged sexual harassment from a hospital staff, said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday, adding a probe must begin against the MS.
"We do not want him to continue in this post because of the complaint and an inquiry should take place," Jain said.
He explained that police has registered the case against the MS and thereafter a police probe will take place.
"Superintendent is the most important post for any hospital and we cannot allow someone with these complaints," Jain said.
The minister also added that this decision is based on the complaints and not on the merit of the person.
However, the government will keep a check on the probe and decide the next action.
The complainant of this case approached the police on Friday and lodged a complaint.
According to the police, the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital in her complaint stated that the accused medical superintendent used to call her inside his room and used to get indulge in perverse conversation. He also used to touch her inappropriately.
. The CMO added that she had warned the MS number of times of dire consequences and had told him not to continue with the misconduct. However, the doctor didn't pay any heed to her warnings and continued with his perverse.
