Girl kills self after molestation

Gurugram: After shameful incidents were reported from Mewat and Faridabad, Gurugram was put to shame on Wednesday, where a 17-year-old girl in Badshahpur committed suicide after being molested. In her suicide note, however, she did not mention any culprit's name.

Gurugram Police on Wednesday said that according to the girl's family, the Class XII student seemed 'normal' when she had gone to bed on Sunday.

On Monday, she did not come out of her room till 8 am. Her anxious parents repeatedly knocked her door, but to no avail.

They finally broke it open, only to find her body hanging from a fan.

Soon, cops reached the victim's home and found the suicide note, where the girl wrote she was unable to tolerate regular eve-teasing and thus decided to end her life.

Her family, meanwhile, claimed that they never knew of her ordeal.

"Her note said that someone used to stalk her and pass lewd comments regularly, due to which she took the extreme step," said Ashok Bakshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).

Based on the note, a case under Section 306 of the IPC (abatement to suicide) has been registered. Cops also question her friends and locals to ascertain the identity of the stalkers.

Just a week ago, a minor had commited suicide in nearby Faridabad, after she was raped by her neighbour.

In addition to sexually assaulting the girl, the accused had also threatened her not to report the matter, which led the 14-year-old to set herself on fire.
