Girl jumps from bus to save herself, accused arrested

New Delhi: A bus driver and conductor were arrested by city police after they were found involved in misbehaving with a minor girl inside a bus in Chawla area of Dwarka district on January 27.

The investigation in the case has revealed that the accused after finding the victim and her two friends alone in the bus, switched off the light and did not allow the girl to deboard, so she jumped from the vehicle and later, informed her family about the incident which led to the arrest of the accused. According to police, the girl with her friend was returning home in Jhatikara village so she along with her two friends boarded the bus from Najafgadh area.

"When the bus reached Sikarpur, the girl and her friends were sitting alone in the vehicle when the driver told the conductor to drive the bus," said police sources.

Sources further added that the driver sat on the conductor seat and started making inappropriate gesture to the girl which was objected by her.

Later, the accused started switching off the lights when the victim made the phone call to her father who told her to deboard the bus as soon as possible.

"Two of the friends came out from the bus and when the girl was getting down from the bus, the conductor sped the bus and tried to flee but the victim jump from the bus to save herself. The family members alerted the police and later, accused identified as Hardeep and Hemant were nabbed," sources further said adding that a case under IPC sections and POCSO act were registered.
