Girl attacked with blade in a snatching bid

A college girl was attacked allegedly by a snatcher with a blade, leaving a deep cut on her back in a bid to get away with her bag on Thursday evening in north Delhi's Timarpur area.
On Thursday evening, the girl, a student of Zakir Hussain College was walking on her way back to home when she was attacked by the assailant with a sharp edged weapon, probably a blade.
The attack left the girl bleeding and raised an alarm after which was taken to the hospital. Later, the police was informed about the incident.
The cops have recorded the statement of the victim and have formed several teams to arrest the accused.
The police said that since it was a lonely stretch, the man have targeted the victim while she was walking.
"It seems it was a snatcher and he aimed at her bag that she carried. Seems like he missed and caused a wound on the back of the girl. We are trying to arrest the accused," said a senior police officer.
The cops are trying to trace any possible leads since the incident happened.
The girl after the attack was admitted to the hospital where she has got several stitches on her back and is in a state of shock since the incident.
The police is seeing the case as a failed snatching bid and not that of stalking.
However, clear picture would emerge once the accused is nabbed.
The cops are questioning the locals in the area if they have seen a boy of the given description in the area.
DCP North Jatin Narwal said, "After taking the statement from complainant, it has been found that it was an attempt to rob the pithu bag she was carrying . When assailant tried to cut the bag from back of the coplainant, she took a turn and got sharp injury. Sec 393/394 ipc has been added and investigation is going on".
