Ghana national held for cloning ATM cards

New Delhi: A 37-year-old Ghana national was arrested from Uttam Nagar area of south west Delhi, police said on Thursday as he was involved in the cloning of ATM cards and fraudulent withdrawal of money. The accused was identified as Kingsley Boafo, and lived in Chhatarpur Village.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south west) Surender Kumar stated that the Ghana national has good computer skills and spent time browsing the internet to find means of earning high profits in short time.
"He surveyed ATMs unmanned by security guards. A camera was fixed with adhesive tape on the surface of ATMs right above the key board. The skimmer copied details of ATM cards inserted into the slot and the camera recorded PIN code fed by card holders," said Kumar.
One of the co-accused Issac, also an African, helped the accused in the crime. The accused was in Mumbai during the last couple of months.
