Ggn officials crack down on illegal sale of crackers

Gurugram: As the festival of Diwali nears, the law enforcement officials have begun cracking down on traders that are defying the ban imposed by the Supreme Court and trying to sell their stock.
In two such incidents, action were initiated by the district agencies on the errant traders.
In the first incident, two sellers namely Guddu and Sonu were arrested by Gurugram police after it was found that they were selling crackers in the Old Gurugram area.
The police also seized the inventories in process. In a second incident, a raid was conducted in the shop at Gadoli Kalan village where 39 cartons of crackers were found.
It was later found out by that the owners were trying to sell off this secretly during the night time. After carrying out the full investigations, the shop was sealed.
Following the Supreme Court order, the Gurugram district administration is keeping a constant vigil on the 20 cracker warehouses that are present in the district.
On Thursday, Sub divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bharat Bhushan Gogia along with his team inspected the inventories at the warehouses.
The owners of these units have been directed to not sell their inventories.
In order to keep a check, there will be a regular survey until Diwali. "The surveillance is being done as per the Supreme Court order. Those vendors who will be found guilty of violating the order will be penalised for violating the law," said the SDM.
