GDA sanctions Rs 1,435 cr budget for infra projects
Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), on Wednesday, held its 152th board meeting and sanctioned a budget of Rs 1,435.30 crores to be spend on various infrastructure development works. The board has also sanctioned Rs 41.07 crores from their welfare funds for some key infrastructure projects which are majorly aimed to curd the menace of traffic.
Around 23 proposals were supposed to get discussed during the board meeting but keeping in view the Prime Minister's visit to Ghaziabad on March 8th, all the proposals were kept on hold to be discussed in the next board meeting and only the budget was passed. However, around 10 infrastructure projects under the meeting relating welfare funds were passed which comprised of Northern Peripheral Road, Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS), Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Wazirabad road and others.
Addressing media over the board meeting, Kanchan Verma, Vice-Chairperson, GDA said that the authority, for the financial year 2019-20, has set a target of Rs 1435.30 income to authority which will be majorly contributed from property and various schemes under master plan.
"The authority has sanctioned a budget of Rs 1,435.30 crores in their 152th board meeting for the fiscal year 2019-20. All the proposals that were supposed to be discussed in the board meeting have been kept on hold to be discussed in the next board meeting. However, all the 10 proposals under welfare funds have been passed" said Verma.
Detailing on the proposals that were passed, V K Singh, Officer on Special Duty, GDA said that the board has sanctioned construction of the first phase of NPR which will connect Loni area to Dasna on NH-24 bisecting NH-58 (Meerut Road).
"The project is a green field project and approximate length of the road will be 20 km. The proposed Northern Peripheral Road will initially be 4-lane road which will be extended to 6-lane as the traffic load increase. We are expecting that the first phase construction work at the NPR will start from April this year" said Singh.
The officer further informed that around Rs 9.7 crores from the wealth funds will be spent on construction of Kanha Gaushala at Nandipark, foundation stone of which will be laid be PM Modi on March 8. Apart from this, a much smarter and ITMS will also be implemented in the city which is expected to cost Rs 9.7 crores to the authority. Under ITMS installation of CCTV cameras at strategic locations, automatic challan of vehicles, speed and sensors will be done.
