GDA demolishes nine shops, two other illegal constructions
Ghaziabad: As the elections are over now, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has once again initiated a massive demolition drive against illegal constructions and have started razing illegally built shops and unauthorised colonies in various parts of the District.
V K Singh, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), GDA told Millennium Post that the demolition drive is being undertaken against unauthorised constructions which are built without getting a map approval with lack of construction quality.
"Since past few years, we have been working on razing illegal constructions in the district which are also risking the life of people living in them. In past two days, the authority teams have destroyed 9 shops, and two other illegal constructions, thus freeing over a thousand square meters of land from these unauthorised constructions. The authority had issued several notices to them in past and the actions were initiated after obtaining the DO (demolition orders). We will ensure that similar drives will be carried out in other parts of the district as well," said Singh.
On Monday, the authority carried out a massive demolition drive in zone-1 in Noor Nagar village and Raj Nagar extension area of Ghaziabad. The authority teams demolished 9 illegally built shops in front of Classic Residency in Raj Nagar extension area while the team also removed encroachments from Bandha Road and other link roads after several complaints were received against them.
Similarly in Zone-II, the authority team carried out a drive in Asalat Nagar in Modinagar area of Ghaziabad on Tuesday and razed an illegal construction built on nearly a thousand square meter of land. The drive was carried out in presence of senior authority and police officials.
