GB Nagar administration slaps NSA on builder

Noida: The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has slapped the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against a 36-year-old builder who developed and sold the maximum unauthorised flats in Greater Noida's Shahberi area.

The builder, identified as Jasveer Singh Maan, was arrested on October 1 who was booked under the NSA. According to the district administration, he developed 261 flats in Shahberi of which 169 were sold. Maan is the resident of Gautampuri area in New Delhi.

Officials said that the flats were made without due permission from the Greater Noida Authority, had a weak structure and poor quality material. Maan is the second builder after Shahabuddin who have been booked under the NSA. An official said that on the basis of the report of district police, it was decided to slap NSA on Maan. His bail plea is due to be heard in court soon and if Maan is granted bail, he would have tried to sell the remaining flats.

As many as 45 flats owned by Mann had been attached earlier. Under section 3 (2) of the NSA, the district magistrate can detain anyone for up to one year as a preventive measure.

On July 17 last year, two adjoining buildings had collapsed in Shahberi village, leaving nine people, including a child and two women, dead. Probe reports by the administration and local authorities found that the buildings had come up without any proper approval.

According to officials after the incident of twin building collapse Shahberi has been a sensitive area.

The buildings in Shahberi area have a weak foundation and their layouts are not approved in authority. If the builder tries to sell the risky flats it becomes law and order concern that's why NSA is being imposed.

Recently Greater Noida authority had attached as many as 76 properties of builders including 74 shops in the same area for illegally constructing and selling properties.
