Gas agency employee shot dead

New Delhi: A gas agency employee, in his 40s, was shot dead by suspected robbers who decamped with a bag containing Rs 3.5 lakh in outer Delhi's Paschim Vihar, the police said today.
Jagannath and his uncle, who worked with a gas agency, were going to the agency owner's house with the day's earnings on a motorcycle when they were stooped by another motorcycle carrying three men yesterday, they added.
The faces of the accused were covered.Jagannath, who was the pillion rider, was holding the bag containing the cash. The accused started snatching the bag but he did not let go off it, the police said. One of the accused fired at Jagannath who sustained an injury to his waist. The accused fled with the cash bag containing close to Rs 3.5 lakh.
Jagannath was rushed to a hospital where he died during treatment, the police said. Police have begun a probe and are questioning other employees of the gas agency. It is suspected that someone who knew that the day's earnings were taken to the owner's house could have leaked the information to the accused.
