Gangster with Rs 50,000 reward arrested by STF

Gururgam: The Haryana Special Task Force (SFT) arrested a criminal having Rs 50,000 bounty on his head, police said on Wednesday.

STF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Satheesh Balan said Ravinder alias Rabbo was a resident of Hodal town in Palwal district of Haryana. He was arrested near Gurugram's Kamla Nehru Park.

"The accused was wanted in a number of cases, including an attempt to murder. An illegal pistol was seized from him," said a senior police official.

Ravinder was among the 30 most wanted criminals of the Gurugram police. In his late 20s, the first case was registered against him in 2013. From there, various cases like rioting, murder and burglaries were registered against him in Faridabad and Gurugram.

Once dependent on encounter specialists, the Gurugram police now wants to play safe in using their services in dealing with deadly gangs operating in Gurugram.

For a long time, the service of the special men trained solely to kill was a strategy adopted for the elimination of dangerous gang leaders of Gurugram.

However, controversial process involved during the encounters, judicial intervention and high costs used for the department for encounter specialists have meant a change in strategy for the Gurugram Police.

Police sources in the Crime Branch maintain that there has been a reduction in the dangers posed by the deadly gangs of Gurugram since most of their leaders have either been eliminated or arrested.
