Gangster involved in multiple crimes held

A gangster, involved in multiple criminal cases, was arrested from Dwarka Sector-14 on Thursday, Delhi Police has said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Sandeep Jassal, has been alleged to be involved in
multiple criminal cases ranging from extortion to rioting in Punjab.
Jassal is reportedly close to a Ludhiana based gangster Rajinder Singh Lovely, who is alleged to have been involved in several gambling and extortion rackets in Ludhiana.
"Jassal had come to Delhi very recently and we had inputs that he would come near a Government dispensary in Dwarka Sector-14 to meet his associate. He was subsequently arrested in the raid," said a senior police official.
According to police, Jassal had been involved with Lovely, after the former's ready made garment business tanked.
Later, to earn some money he got involved
in the lottery business under Lovely.
The accused would allegedly assault people at the behest of Lovely and would pursue people who owed Lovely money.
The gangsters had set up the gambling racket out in the top in the Lottery market, police claimed.
Later, the local police took action and sent a team to arrest Jassal.
However, the police team was outmanned by a 50 man strong crowd who forced the police to turn around after which rioting charges were slapped against Jassal, police said.
"We have informed the local police in Ludhiana and his transit remand has been taken by the local court," the official added.
