In a shootout in Northeast Delhi's Jafrabad, two people were shot dead and another injured by unknown assailants on Wednesday night.

The deceased, Imran (25) and Qamar are residents of Jafrabad area.

Police suspect it as a case of personal rivalry between two groups in which multiple rounds were fired by bike-borne assailants.

The incident took place around 11 pm when both Qamar and Imran along with Rashid reached a local tea stall in lane 48 in Jafrabad.
Sources said, "Three to four men on the bike were waiting for them. As soon as they arrived, the bikers surrounded them and started firing. Imran and Qamar were shot multiple times while Rashid managed to flee with a single bullet injury. Imran died on the spot while Qamar died after he was taken to the hospital.

Rashid was discharged after the treatment."According to police, both Imran and Qamar were members of Chenu gang which is in rivalry with Nasir gang. The member of Nasir gang is suspected to be behind the attack.

Sources added that these two gangs have been each other's rival since 2004. Both Nasir and Chenu are lodged presently in Tihar jail.

"Both Imran and Qamar have criminal cases registered against them. We are investigating who is behind the killing," said DCP North-East Ajit Kumar Singla.
