Gang involved in street crime busted

New Delhi: Four robbers with their juvenile (JCL) associate, involved in cases of street crime, were nabbed from Burari area on December 15.

Police claimed that the accused used different types of modus operandi for committing the crime. Police identified the accused as Ashiq Hassan, Mohit, Shahil Khan and Saif Ali Khan and one JCL. Ten cases including robbery, snatching and theft have been solved after arresting the accused.

"The arrest was the result of intensified picket checking and motorcycle patrolling at the outer ring road. The staff was also deployed in plain clothes at identified locations to keep close watch over the activities of criminals operating in the area," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Nupur Prasad.

During the night checking at RCC Road, all accused were apprehended.

The DCP further stated that the team of Burari police station made the arrest and during the interrogation, the accused confessed their involvement in many cases of robbery and snatching.

Further, they disclosed that they used to have a bunch of keys to unlock the vehicles for stealing.

"After stealing the vehicle, they used to go in search of the easy target on the Highway from Singhu Border to Noida and Ghaziabad," said DCP.

She further added that after the identification of the target, they usually asked them for any address and robbed their belongings including cash, jewellery, mobile phones. After committing the offence, they used to dump the stolen vehicle abandoned.
