New Delhi: Inspired by a movie, a 34-year-old Yogesh Garg duped almost 10 to15 women and extorted about Rs 50 lakh but his luck ran out as he was nabbed from a railway station in the Capital.
With his arrest, police was able to rescue a woman along with her 12-year-old son.
According to police during interrogation, he told that he was inspired by the movie "Ladies Vs Ricky Behl".
At first, the accused used to project himself as an ultra rich person and a son of retired IAS officer. Later on, he used to establish trust with the victim and make videos of them and threatened to post it on a social website.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad said that on September 5, brother of one woman informed the police his sister was missing since September 3.
He added that she came in contact with one person named Sameer Garg through Jeevansaathi.com. Complainant showed strong apprehension that said Sameer allured his sister and took her along with her son.
Meanwhile, the complainant told the police that he has again telephonically contacted his sister and this time his sister picked the phone and he told that his father was ill and has been admitted in AIIMS.
"She told that she will come to see her father but she was going to Mumbai. Acting upon the information received from the complainant, a trap was laid down and the team sent to AIIMS. Frequent search was made but could not succeed to trace the victim," Prasad said.
Police claimed that on the basis of electronic surveillance of mobile phone, the team was sent to New Delhi Railway Station.
"When the accused along with victim and her minor son were boarding the train, he was apprehended and victim along with her minor son was rescued from him," police said.
Police further claimed that after being rescued from the accused person, the woman victim told that he allured her on the pretext of marriage and took her to Vaishno Devi and after a few days, he took her to Goa on the pretext of meeting with his parents.
The victim added that the accused also extracted money from her. Till now he has taken about Rs 3 lakh from her.
