Future tense: Another showdown in the offing in North Campus

Delhi University's North Campus may witness a fresh round of violence as the Bharatiya Janata Party- affiliated students' wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has been gearing up for massive protests in the coming days.

Talking to Millennium Post, Amit Tanwar, Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) president and ABVP activist clearly spoke about the plans of the students' Right wing organising huge demonstrations and protests on Monday.

According to ABVP activists, earlier, the protest was not planned but this time they will reciprocate it with a huge number as senior members were busy in ABVP's meetings in Rajasthan. "This time, the protest will be executed strategically as our senior members will be available to hold the relay in Delhi University," said another ABVP member.

Moreover, they are expecting nearly 2,000 ABVP members to take part in this protest and this agitation will decide the fate of the ABVP in Delhi University.

"We don't want Delhi University burn like Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and won't allow Communist ideologies in our varsity. Now, it has turned into the tussle of prestige between the rightists and the Leftists. We don't want anti-national slogans in our university and anything in the name of freedom," said another ABVP member.

It seems to be a wise decision on the ABVP's part to protest on Monday as most students will attend their respective colleges and will automatically provide huge support.

"At this point in time, activists say they do not want to announce the strategy, plan of action and modus operandi, as security authorities will be alerted and get a chance to disrupt the protest," he added.

Echoing the DUSU president's words, an activist added that the ABVP doesn't want the other section to establish JNU's protest culture in Delhi University and will not tolerate so-called anti-nationals to get undue mileage.

Members of the ABVP responsible for the alleged Ramjas violence claim that the North Campus will come to a standstill on Monday as hundreds will come out on the streets to protest.
