Free self-defence camp to come up in GB Nagar

Noida: The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration on Tuesday signed an MoU with Axis bank to launch a free self-defence training camp for females for a period of one year. The camp will help females in getting self-defence and combat techniques and will start from October 2 in Noida stadium.

"The camp will hold training activities for 12 days in a month. A team of professional trainers has been engaged to train them on self-defence techniques. We have carried out the programme to curb the increasing number of crimes against women and to empower them," said B N Singh, District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Axis Bank will sponsor the programme through its CSR initiative. The training programme will be monitored by the district administration's sports department.

An applicant can enroll herself by directly visiting the district administration's website where a URL link will be provided. "In first phase, we will form a batch of 100 female candidates for the training programme of one month. All the applications will be taken through online method. The admissions will be given first-come-first-serve basis," added Singh.

The launching programme was held on Tuesday evening at District Magistrate camp office in Noida.
