Fraudster who escaped from police custody held
New Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested a fraudster involved in property fraud of Rs one crore. The accused had escaped police custody and later arrested from Delhi-Alipur border.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Jasmeet Singh said that a case was registered on the complaint of one Vijender Sharma against accused Nitin Nagpal who cheated the innocent victim worth Rs one crore in the name of providing them with a prescribed property in the area of Laxmi Nagar police station.
During investigation accused Nitin was arrested from Dehradoon and taken on three days police custody on July 17. "During police custody remand when a police party was taking him to Dehradoon again for further investigation, he escaped from police custody while taking advantage of darkness in the area of Khautoli police station in Muzaffarnagar after pushing the staff deputed, where a separate case has been registered against the accused Nitin Nagpal also," police said.
Police further added that to arrest the accused various raids were conducted in the area of Ambala, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Muzaffarnagar and Dehradoon. Finally, the team apprehended the accused from Delhi-Alipur border on July 31. In another case, East district police arrested one Amit Sarup. Police said that the accused with his associate swindled the complainants to the tune of Rs 1.20 crore.
"The accused told complainants to invest in his franchise for great financial return. By getting allured by the representation and promises made by the accused, they entered into Memorandum of Understanding in the year 2012 with Sarup and one Pradeep Sachdeva," said DCP East.
