Fourth accused in Rs 126 cr land scam arrested by police

Greater Noida: Gautam Buddh Nagar police on Monday arrested the fourth accused named in the land scam worth Rs 126 crores in Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). Police officials said that few of the lands, which were purchased from the farmers, were registered on the name of arrested accused.

According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Satendra, a resident of BB Nagar area in Bulandshahr.

"In yet another successful raid following a tip-off, police managed to nab the accused from Modinagar area. He has been produced before the court and sent to the jail. Further arrests will be made soon as police teams are conducting raids at other suspected locations," said Nishank Sharma, Circle Officer-1, Greater Noida.

Police have already arrested three other accused in the case who were identified as IAS officer and then CEO of YEIDA P C Gupta and two directors of DATA Infratech private limited company, Ramesh Bansal and Satendra Chauhan.

The land scam was performed in year 2014 when then YEIDA CEO and IAS officer PC Gupta along with his nephew, wife and relatives formed seven fake companies which first acquired 57.17 hectare land from farmers at cheaper prices and then YEIDA bought land at an inflated price in Mathura that actually had no utility.

Later in June 2018 Dr. Prabhat Kumar ordered a probe into the matter based on a complaint. Police also registered a case against 21 persons including IAS PC Gupta on June 3 when irregularities were found in the probe and detections were issued by the Chairman and former Commissioner.
