Four men held for offering rides to unsuspecting people, robbing them

New Delhi: A gang who used to offer lift to people in need in their cab and then robbed him has been busted by North Delhi Police, with four persons being arrested in this connection.
According to police the accused were identified as Yashir Khan, Rizwan, Aashif and Wasim. The accused were arrested on February 6, during a vehicle checking conducted by personnel of Kashmere Gate police station.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Jatin Narwal told reporters that during their interrogation, the accused persons revealed that they would roam around the city in their car late at night, in search of person needing of a cab.
On finding a target, the accused would offer them a lift and after they entered the car, the accused would rob them of their belongings.
"During sustained interrogation, the accused revealed that on January 8, they robbed one person after giving him lift in their car and dropped him at an isolated place near Karkardooma Court. All robbed items were handed over to Wasim, who was already waiting for them at Sarai Kale Khan," said Narwal.
Further investigation is in progress and efforts are on to unearth other cases with similar modus operandi.
A team from Kashmere Gate police station, led by SHO Inspector Devendra Kumar Singh was formed, under the supervision of ACP Kotwali.
