Four held for robbing truck of silver items worth Rs 3.5 cr

Greater Noida: Gautam Buddh Nagar police, on Wednesday, arrested four persons in connection with a case of loot of a truck loaded with silver jewellery worth Rs 3.5 crore, on Yamuna Expressway, earlier this month.
Cops said that the truck, belonging to courier company BlueDart, contained around six quintals and 18 kg of silver jewellery, and robbed near Jewar toll plaza on April 3.
The consignment was supposed to reached from Agra to Delhi.
Police said the accused men had posed as sales tax officers, stopped the truck for checking, and subsequently robbed it.
The accused had used an SUV, with a blue beacon, said police.
"Acting on a tip-off, the arrest was made from Yamuna Expressway near Jewar area, when the robbers were going to sell the stolen items to a jeweler in Aligarh.
"As the police team tried to intercept the robbers, they opened gun fire. However, no causality was reported and the arrests were successfully made" said a senior police officer.
Along with the stolen silver items, cops recovered two illegal pistols, several cases of live ammunitions, a police uniform and the SUV car used in the incident.
