Four held for breaking into family's home, assaulting them

Greater Noida: Police on Wednesday arrested four persons for allegedly trespassing a house and attacking the members of a family with blade and sharp objects following a heated argument. The miscreants also molested the female members of the family.

According to police, the incident took place around 9 pm on Tuesday, when one of the victims had told one of the accused to stop selling drugs at the former's medical store in Dadri area of Greater Noida.

"While returning home after offering evening prayers, we spotted that one of the accused, identified as Shabir Sultan, had been selling drugs openly outside our medical store.

"As we tried to stop him from selling the drugs, he started abusing us and as the situation started turning ugly, we decided to leave the place and went home to avoid the circumstances," said the victim, who wished to remain anonymous.

According to the complainant, while his family was having dinner at their residence, Shahbir, along with ten other people, reportedly broke into the house and attacked the family members with blade, knife and sharp objects.

"Around six to seven members of the family were severely beaten up, while the accused allegedly molested the female members of the family.

"On hearing the cries of the victims, the locals informed the police, immediately after which the accused fled the spot. They even threatened the victims with dire consequences, if they complained about it to the police," said a police official.

Police reached the spot and rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Based on the complaint filed by the victims, a case under sections 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 307 (attempt to murder), 354-A (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and several other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Cops said that the arrested men have been identified as Aarif, Shabir, Sonu and Sarfaraz, while some other accused are still at large.

"We conducted raids at their whereabouts and managed to arrest Aarif, Shabir, Sonu and Sarfaraz, while another accused Rahul is absconding. Some people from the village have been detained by the police for questioning," said a senior police officer.
