Four arrested for looting citizens in car

Gurugram: Four people, including two women, were arrested who used to loot people on the pretext of giving them car lift in Gurugram. Those arrested have been identified as Gaurav, Akshay, Mahima and Jhanvi.
Explaining their modus-operandi, the police stated that the four used to provide car lift to mainly single person at busy areas of the city. They then used to take the victim to the desolate spot near Aravallis where they used to commit the robbery after roughing up the person.
According to the group, the group was involved in more than three incidents of theft. One of the held culprits, Mahima, had also been jailed twice due to petty theft but that did not deter her to carry out the daring crimes once she came out of the prison. The police have recovered Rs 20,000 from the four and are in the process of finding other valuables that were stolen by them.
"The success of the Gurugram police in this incident will surely put brakes to such kind of crimes in the city. On the basis of confidential information, we arrest these robbers which will only intensify in the coming days," said a senior police official.
