Former K'taka Minister K R Ramesh Kumar visits Delhi govt school

NEW DELHI: Senior leader of the Congress party and former Health Minister of Karnataka K R Ramesh Kumar visited the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in West Vinod Nagar on Saturday. Kumar, who was the Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly until early this year, had come to Delhi to witness the transformation in Delhi's government schools that he had heard about.

"I had to see it to believe that we have a government school like that in this country," he said. "I was taken by surprise by the amount of sincerity gone into developing a government school into a wonderful institution like that, giving new meaning to the lives of the middle and lower middle class," Ramesh Kumar said.

After visiting the school, Kumar visited the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence. He said, "My salute to the Captain, Arvind Kejriwal. This is a silent revolution that has come about. With the kind of schools you have made, you cannot be erased from history."

"I interacted with the children myself. The commitment of the teaching staff and the dedication with which they teach children is revealing. I had visited Mohalla Clinics as Health Minister of Karnataka in my earlier stint and replicated the model. I am no longer in office, but at the next immediate opportunity I will implement the school reforms as well," said Kumar, thanking the chief minister for

hosting him.
