Five-year-old girl raped inside school in Shahdara, peon arrested
NEW DELHI: A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a peon inside the premises of a private school in Shahdara here, the police said on Sunday.
The accused, Vikas (40), was arrested late Saturday night, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad said.
Shockingly, the storeroom of the school where the accused took the girl to rape her was not under CCTV surveillance.
Revealing the sequence of events, the parents said that in the morning, the father dropped her to Tagore Public School, where the girl studies, in the morning.
In the afternoon, between 12 am and 1 pm, the accused reportedly took the girl into a room and sexually assaulted her.
At around 2 pm, when school was over she came home with her father. "She did not eat properly. My daughter used to be very happy when she sat with me on the dining table, and I saw a change in her behaviour," he said.
The girl remained quiet the entire day and later went to the bathroom to clean the blood.
Her mother noticed something was amiss and asked the girl what she was doing. "My daughter told me she was in pain, and had even attended all the classes all the while suffering," rues the mother.
The girl was taken to Chacha Nehru Hospital, where the parents were told that their daughter had been raped.
The girl then told her mother that the accused took her to a storeroom in the school, where she was assaulted. "We called the school about the incident and a teacher came to meet us," said the mother.
According to family, the teacher had asked them to not take the school's name and also tried to lure her with chocolates.
However, the teacher claimed that after the parents called the school, she had gone to meet the girl as she was not talking at all. "I went there and took her into my arms and asked her about the incident. I want that the accused should be punished," said the teacher.
Moreover, the parents claimed that they were not properly treated at the hospital and were later referred to other hospital, where she received appropriate treatment.
"The first hospital did not even us give us an ambulance and we had to take our daughter in an auto-rickshaw," said the father.
A day after the incident, the five-year-old girl goes into her room to play with her father's phone. Later, she starts playing with some toys along with her cousin, which gives some relief to the parents.
Talking to Millennium Post, her parents said that soon after the assault on Saturday, the girl told them that the "uncle (accused) was very bad and that she will not study in the school, and instead take admission where her brother studies."
One of the girl's cousins, who studies in the same school, said that the accused was very arrogant and used to threaten children saying that he will take them to his home.
"On Saturday, she was crying due to pain. She told us that she did not want to go to the school again. As parents, it was a horrific day for us," said the mother. The girl is now being given treatment every hour.
The minor girl told this newspaper that she told her teacher about the incident who replied that he will be punished. According to the girl's mother, the teacher initially did not take the matter seriously.
