Five persons nabbed for molestation in outer Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday nabbed five accused who were involved in molestation of a woman in Chhath Ghat in Outer Delhi area. An alleged video of the incident went viral in social media in which it was shown that some persons were being thrashed by sticks.

According to police, on November 14 information was received about a ruckus created by Vikas and Monu in Chhath Puja Sathal of Hind Vihar Colony.

Accordingly, police staff reached the spot and came to know that accused Vikas and Monu along with their other friends named Sonu, Sandeep and JCL had molested a woman and they were caught and beaten up by the public.

Police claimed that on seeing the police, accused Vikas thinking of his arrest in an earlier case registered against him, ran away from the spot with his friend Sandeep.

The police team chased him down near the Railway tracks. Accused Vikas jumped in a pool of dirty water gathered near the railway line to save himself. But the police team pulled him out from there.

The police further claimed that meanwhile, a mob of 40-50 persons arrived there. Infuriated over the act of the accused Vikas who had molested a woman during the festival at the sacred place of Chhath Puja Sathal, the mob had beaten Vikas and Sandeep. The police staff saved the accused and took him to the police station.

Later on, the woman gave her statement alleging that Sonu and his other friend Vikas, Monu, Sandeep and JCL had molested her and also beating her brother Shashi. Accordingly, a case under sections 354, 354B, 323, 506, 509, 34 IPC was registered and all five accused were nabbed.
