FIFA U-17 World Cup: Traffic to be rerouted near stadium

NEW DELHI: The FIFA U-17 World Cup being hosted by Delhi at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, Bhishma Pitamah Marg, will see some restrictions being enforced around the stadium, in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic and ease of movement for players and spectators.
The routes will include Bhishma Pitamah Marg from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Red Light to Kotla Red Light; Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Marg from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Red Light to DAVP T-Point; and CGO Road from CGO Cut to Pragati Vihar Hostel Red Light.
Restrictions on movement also been placed for general traffic on all four match days, between 2 pm and 11 pm.
No heavy vehicles, commercial vehicles including buses will be allowed on Bhishma Pitama Marg. They will be advised to go straight on Ring Road and take Lala Lajpat Rai Marg or Aurobindo Marg for further journey.
No vehicles without appropriate parking labels will be allowed towards Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium/ Bhishma Pitama Marg beyond that point. All vehicles without parking labels will proceed to Chetna Marg, Defence Colony and take Lala Lajpat Rai Marg thereafter for further journey.
Garima Bhatnagar, Joint CP Traffic, said, "There is no parking for spectators in the vicinity of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The spectators coming for the matches are advised to take public transport to reach the venue. There would be no effect on the running of the metros at the nearby stations."
Police have requested people take Metro trains to reach Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and advised spectators to get down at the nearest Metro stations, namely Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Jangpura and Jor Bagh.
