Female TV journalist dies after falling from fourth floor of high-rise building

Noida: A 26-year-old female TV journalist with a private news channel died after she fell off the fourth floor of a high-rise building at a residential society in sector 77 of Noida early on Friday morning. Police have detained one of her male friends for questioning while they are investigating the case covering all the possible angles.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 3:30 am on Friday. The deceased identified as Radhika Kaushik, a native of Rajasthan, lived at a rented apartment located at fourth floor in Antariksh Forest society in sector 77. She was present with her male friend at her flat when the incident took place.

"The security guards of the building alerted police following which a police team was rushed to the spot. The deceased lying in a pool of blood in the parking area at ground floor was rushed to the hospital where she was declared brought dead. The body was handed over to the family after getting the postmortem done," said Girja Shankar Tripathi, Station house officer of sector 49 police station.

Police have detained the male friend of the victim who was present at her flat at the time of incident.

"We have detained victim's male friend identified as Rahul Awasthi for questioning while a case under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered based on the complaint filed by deceased's family members. As of now we cannot say as how she died but we are investigating the case covering all possible angles including murder, accident and suicide as well," added Tripathi.

The officer further said that both the victim and her male friend worked at the same private news channel.

"During interrogations, Awasthi told police that Radhika was depressed over something and just before the incident also she received a call from one of her family members. Awasthi went to the washroom and as he came out he didn't find her in the house. He looked out of the balcony and found her lying on the ground floor. We are looking into the CCTV footage of the society to ascertain the exact cause of her death," said Tripathi.
