Greater Noida: A third year female physiotherapy student at a private university in Greater Noida allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at her paying guest (PG) accommodation in sector Beta-I of Greater Noida on Tuesday evening. Police officials said that the girl was under mental depression due to failed relationship and poor academics.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Spana Jatav (21), a native of Atta Gujran village in Dankaur area and was a third year student of Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Sharda University in Greater Noida.

Ranvijay Singh, Superintendent of Police (rural), Gautam Buddh Nagar said that police received information from the hospital where the girl was declared brought dead.

"Upon receiving the information, a police team reached hospital and investigated the matter. When we searched her room, where she committed suicide, police found a chemical substance and marks of vomiting in her room. It appears that the woman had vomited multiple times after consuming poison. Samples have been taken by the forensic team from the spot," said Singh.

The officer further said that police have recovered a suicide note from her room in which she blamed herself for suicide and wrote her boyfriend's number.

"We have recovered a suicide note in which she blamed no one for her death. She had also written the phone number of her boyfriend who lived near her PG and upon looking into her call logs, we found multiple calls from the same number. We have detained the boy for questioning and get more details into the matter," added Singh.
