Father accidentally killed son in celebratory firing on New Yr eve

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday arrested the father of the deceased child Rihan Mallik who was killed in a celebratory firing in North East Delhi's New Usmanpur on December 31. The cops arrested Yasin after the interrogation pointed towards his role in the firing incident.

On New year's eve it was found that a New year celebration was going on in gali no.2, 3rd Pusta. During the celebration, some persons were dancing on music were several children aged between 6 to 14 years gathered around the celebration. Suddenly one boy Rihan (8 yrs), son of Yaseen, a resident of Vijay colony, Usmanpur Delhi received fire arm injury on his right cheek by an unknown person. The boy was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead.

The police formed several teams to investigate the murder. During interrogation, cops zeroed in on 3 suspects who ultimately led to the revelation that it was the boy's father Yasin who fired the shot that hit his son accidentally. The father allegedly concealed his role in the incident till the police exposed him.

"Yasin stated that after taking a firearm from one Ravi Kashyap (21 years), a resident of Puja colony, Loni, UP he had fired in the celebration which accidentally hit his son who was present in the celebration. Thereafter he handed over the firearm to Ravi Kashyap, we have arrested Yasin," said Atul Kumar Thakur, DCP North East.

Later, on the instance of the accused, Ravi Kashyap was also arrested by police. He was interrogated at length and weapon of offence was also recovered. Police are also verifying if Ravi is having a criminal history.
