Fake SDM and his gang including two sons busted

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday busted a gang of fraudsters including one fake SDM in Dwarka Sector 23. Police claimed that the accused were nabbed through effective corridor patrolling.

According to police on the intervening night of January 24-25, the gang forcibly uploaded some bags of cement from the truck after stopping it near village Bamnoli and threatened driver to escape. "After the vehicle came to a halt, one of the accused came to the driver of the truck and told that SDM is on the raid and enquired the driver about the load of the truck and later forcibly unloaded some bags of cement," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), Anto Alphonse.

Later complainant found police party nearby spot doing corridor patrolling and informed them about incident. Police personnel immediately rushed to the spot and found two cars on which all the cement bags had been uploaded and this car had the sticker of SDM as well as Government of Delhi. Occupants of one of the cars tried to flee the spot but were nabbed after the chase. The accused were identified as Satyawan who introduced himself as SDM, Dalip Singh (introduced himself as the driver of SDM), Devender and Pankaj.

During interrogation, Satyawan disclosed that earlier, he provided Swift Day car in contract basis to one SDM of Delhi and he drove SDM's car himself. Whenever his Swift Dzire car got off the road, he provided his Wagon-R car for the same. After his contract ended in the month of May 2018, he did not remove stickers of SDM as well as Govt of Delhi from both cars. He was well versed about the power and working of SDM and had the cars with those stickers, so he planned to extort some money from truck drivers with his friend Dalip who was presently unemployed and his two sons Devender and Pankaj.
