Factory worker dies after getting trapped inside lift

New Delhi: A 27-year-old man working in a factory at Friend's Colony in Shahdara district died after getting trapped inside a lift on Wednesday. Police claimed that they have registered a case in this regard and investigation is on to check who is the culprit in the case.

The deceased identified as Shiv Kumar Gupta, a native of Bihar, had come to Delhi in search of the job. He worked in the factory situated in Friends Colony area. At the time of the incident, he was not wearing any protective gear. The person had come around 5 pm and was reportedly in the lift for some work.

Suddenly, the lift started moving down and the victim had no chance to escape as he was caught beneath the lift. There was also a loud noise and Gupta started crying. Hearing this, all the other persons who were working there reached the spot. The other labourers tried to rescue but they were not able to save his life. When he came out, he was bleeding profusely. Blood was there on the spot. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead by doctors.

Meanwhile, police were informed about the incident. The police have started their investigation after registering a case under different IPC sections. Police have questioned the owner of the factory. Cops are investigating whether any safety norms were followed.
