Face narco test over allegation against CBI or step down for 'lying', says BJP; AAP hits back

New Delhi: BJP leaders Tuesday challenged Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to appear for a narco test over his allegations that the CBI tried to pressure him into quitting the AAP and joining the BJP, or step down from his post for "lying".

West Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Verma said if Sisodia is an honest leader he should agree to a narco test or resign for making allegations against CBI officials.

"If any CBI officer has asked Sisodia to join BJP then he should name that officer. If he can not do so, he should either prepare for the narco test or resign from his post," Verma said in a press conference.

Another Delhi BJP leader Kapil Mishra said Sisodia should either undergo narco and lie-detected tests or tender an apology for "lying".

Mishra, a former minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government, said the allegations by Sisodia, an accused in the Delhi Excise policy case, should be seen as a "shameless" attempt to "influence" the probe.

Sisodia, who was questioned for over nine hours on Monday at the CBI headquarters in connection with the alleged Delhi Excise policy scam, had claimed that he was offered the chief minister's post if he quit the AAP.

"Pressure was put on me to quit AAP. I was offered Delhi chief minister's post or face a jail term," Sisodia said.

Speaking to reporters, Mishra hit back at the AAP leader and said, "I challenge Sisodia to face a narco or a lie detector test to find out the truth or (he should) take back his statement against the CBI and tender an apology by the evening."

The CBI has refuted Sisodia's allegations.

"The CBI strongly refutes these allegations and reiterates that the examination of Sisodia was carried out in a professional and legal manner strictly as per the allegations against him in the FIR. The investigation of the case will continue as per the law," the agency said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the AAP said the BJP should ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to undergo a lie detector test and say the CBI and the ED are neutral agencies and have nothing to do with his party.

The BJP leader also said Sisodia's allegation was a "shameless" attempt to "influence" the agency's probe into the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.

"The BJP should ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to undergo a lie detector and narco-analysis test and say the CBI and the ED are autonomous and neutral agencies and have nothing to do with the BJP and the Centre," AAP's chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj told a press conference here.
