Extortionist held for murder of bizman in Badli

NEW DELHI: Sniffing the success of a call centre in his area, a goon forced a man into a business partnership. When the businessman Priyanshu refused, the accused Rahul stabbed him multiple times, killing him on the spot on October 19. Two days later, police team from Rohini nabbed Rahul.
Priyanshu, alias Puneet, used to run a call centre in Badli. One of his friends Bitto, who used to run the call centre along with him, told police that the call centre was running well and had a very good reputation in the market.
After he became aware of the successful business, a local extortionist Rahul Rai started threatening them to accept his offer of partnership in the business.
The accused, after his arrest on October 21, was subjected to intensive interrogation, during which he revealed that he wanted to take over the business.
A few days earlier, he had even tried to kidnap and force Bittoo to sign some agreement in respect of partnership.
DCP (Rohini) Rishipal said, "Since Puneet was not interested in getting into any partnership with Rahul, he tried to defer the deal to avoid a direct confrontation with Rahul Rai."
"On October 19, Rahul came to talk to them about the issue of partnership. But when they refused, he asked for the data of customers used in the call centre from the deceased Puneet. When Puneet refused to give the same, he got infuriated and caused multiple stab wounds on him," said the DCP.
He later stole the laptop containing vital data of the customers and other valuables from the house of the accused, along with the murder weapon.
