Gurugram: In two separate incidents, allegations of extortion have been levelled against Gurugram police officials. The seriousness of the incidents can be gauged from the fact a builder committed suicide under the alleged pressure of extortion demanded by a senior official.
In the latest incident that was reported on Wednesday, a cop has been accused of collecting extortion from certain shopkeepers in Sector-51. There are allegations that an ASI rank official not only tried to intimidate the residents by brandishing his gun but also brought in goons to scare the residents. The angry residents not only shared the incident on the social media but also met the state government minister Rao Narbir Singh and made him aware of the situation. Taking cognizance of the situation, the Gurugram police Commissioner KK Rao has ordered a probe into the matter.
